Weekend Recap – June 25th
Good morning and happy Monday! This weekend was the perfect mix of playing catch up, spending time with family, and resting at home. We’ve been busy with traveling or having people stay at our house, and while we LOVE both of those things, it was nice to have a weekend to relax at home and get our lives back in order.
Friday
I worked from home on Friday and it’s always nice to beat rush hour and grab Luke from Daycare without the commute home from the office. We got back to the house and started prepping dinner while we waited for Blake to get home. I’m almost halfway done with Whole30 (you can read more about my experience with Whole30 here) and while Blake’s not doing it this round, he always eats Whole30 dinners with me while I’m on the program. We made a Whole30 version of Sloppy Joes and instead of having it on buns, we baked it in bell peppers in the oven for about 20 minutes and it was DELICIOUS. I’ll definitely be adding it to future meal plans.
Saturday
Saturday morning started off like most around here 🙂 I got up early with Luke and had my iced coffee while he drank his bottle and then I got ready to go to a barre class. It ended up being my 100th class so I get to sign the wall next class! I really have absolutely loved this barre studio. They are so friendly and inviting and it’s such a killer workout that has given me confidence both during my pregnancy and now during my postpartum journey! The next big milestone is 250 classes so we’ll see how long that takes me!
I got back and Luke was still napping so I jumped in the shower and got ready for the day. We quickly cleaned up around the house and then hopped in the car to run some errands. We were low on groceries so we went to Whole Foods to grab lunch from their buffet. They have a bunch of options that are Whole30 friendly, so we grabbed lunch and sat in their cafe area while Luke snoozed in his stroller. After lunch we ran to Kohl’s and ended up feeding Luke his sweet potatoes in the trunk of our SUV in the parking lot while it poured rain haha!
Once we got back, we played with Luke (these blocks and these rings are still going strong as his favorites!) and finished doing some laundry and other chores around the house.
My cousin had a basketball camp at Georgia Tech this weekend, so she and my aunt, uncle, and other cousin were all in town from Florida. My aunt’s sister also lives in Atlanta, but my uncle was staying with my parents, so he came over with my parents for dinner. My Dad made everything and just dropped it off at our house on their way to church (which was amazing…we just heated a few things up right before they all got here…my kind of dinner party). It was so fun catching up with my Uncle and chatting with my parents. My Dad also cleaned up most of the dishes so all in all I’d call it a successful night 🙂
Sunday
We woke up to Luke babbling to himself in his crib again Sunday morning 🙂 Blake got up with him while I lounged for a few more minutes before getting up and grabbing some coffee. I made a quick breakfast and we played for awhile before Luke needed to go down for a nap. Blake and I got ready for the day and then once Luke was up and had his bottle, we got ready to head out for another day out and about. We went to Five Guys (their burger + lettuce wrap is Whole30 approved!) which of course took twice as long as expected because Luke needed a diaper change and then more sweet potatoes once we were there…I need to always just add 20 extra minutes when we are trying to get somewhere with a baby!
After we ate, we went down to Georgia Tech to watch my cousin’s last game of the camp. It was so fun driving through campus and reminiscing about our time there. We only got to see our family for a short time since they had to make the drive back to Orlando right after the game, but it was great to see them and watch my cousin play. After the game, we went to the Georgia Tech bookstore on campus and bought Luke the cutest little baseball hat and vest. I can’t wait for him to wear them this coming football season!
Luke crashed as soon as we got into the car to head home and I successfully transferred him from the car seat to his crib where he slept for another hour or so.
We spent the rest of the afternoon getting ready for the week and playing around the house before it was bedtime. Once we put him down, Blake mowed the grass while I got started on this post. The rest of our plans for the evening consist of dinner and camping out on the couch watching The Office until it’s time to call it a night!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
xoxo,
Lauren
