Weekend Update – April 16th
Happy Monday, friends! We had such a nice weekend and were able to catch up on some much needed rest. I hope you all did the same and are starting the week off on a positive note!
Friday
I had an offsite meeting Friday and we ended a little early, so I took advantage of having some free time and ran into Anthropologie to pick up a gift for a friend. They were having 25% off their sale prices, so I couldn’t resist picking up a sweater that was on sale. It’s seriously the softest thing ever and since it ended up being chillier later this weekend, I already busted it out and wore it with shorts. It’s perfect for weekend lounging at home, but nice enough to wear out & about as well.
After my quick shopping trip, I swung by and picked up Luke before heading home to meet Blake. We ate an early dinner and spent time as a family before we put Luke to bed. I’ve always been a bit of a homebody, but now that we have a baby I cherish simple nights at home with my family more than ever.
Saturday
Blake woke up with Luke Saturday morning and let me sleep in a bit before my 8:30 barre class. I know I say it every weekend…but it’s seriously the best way to kick off my weekend! After class, I came back home and made a cup of coffee while I waited for two of my best friends to arrive. My friend Erin was in town for the weekend from DC and stayed with our friend Kyle Friday night. Kyle and I went to high school together and lived together all throughout college. We met Erin freshman year in our dorm and quickly became inseparable along with our friends Kristen and Kristine. Erin and Kristen went to high school together as well and Kristine came down to Georgia from Maryland. The five of us pretty much did everything together freshman year and the things we got into that year are some of my favorite memories 🙂 Kristen & Kristine – we missed you and I can’t wait until the 5 of us are reunited again!
Luke is cracking me up in this picture 🙂
Kyle and Erin came over and played with Luke while we caught up for a bit. I love seeing him with my best friends – it’s so crazy to have gone through some many phases of life with these girls! It was such a beautiful day on Saturday so we took Luke and went to a local park that’s just down the street from our house. We walked and chatted for about an hour before we headed back home. It was so nice to catch up with them and it makes me wish we all lived closer…we used to joke about buying houses next to each other in a cul-de-sac and I seriously think that would be amazing haha!
After they left, Blake and I did a few things around the house and then headed off to Pike’s Nursery to pick up some plants for our backyard. We cleared out a lot of old, dying plants last spring and have slowly been adding to and re-doing the yard. It’s finally coming together and I’m excited for everything to be finalized.
Sunday
Sunday started off bright and early with a 6:00am wake up call from Luke. I got up with him and drank some coffee while he had his bottle. It was a rainy, dreary morning so it was perfect to bundle up and cuddle on the couch. Blake went to an Orange Theory class and then came back and got to work planting all of the plants we got yesterday. The yard looks so much better already! After he was done, I ran some quick errands and then my mom came over for a bit. Luke was in such a funny mood today and we figured out he has some ticklish spots that set him off in laughter. We also put him in a carrier facing out for the first time this weekend and he LOVED it!
After she left, Blake and I went to an early dinner at Village Burger. I’d been craving a burger so it totally hit the spot.
The rest of our Sunday was filled with a trip to the grocery store, going through Luke’s bedtime routine, cleaning up, and getting ready for the week ahead. I’m writing this post while we catch up on The Blindspot and am hoping to head to bed early!
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
xoxo,
Lauren
