10 Tips for Returning to Work after Maternity Leave

I have a coworker who will be returning from maternity leave soon and she recently reached out asking for some tips on how to prepare. As I was responding to her email, I figured I’d turn it into a blog post as well for any other new moms or moms-to-be out there! I went through so many emotions during my maternity leave…your hormones are WACKO and you are running on such little sleep that some days I wasn’t sure how I was going to make it to the end of the day! And then at the same time, you are soaking up precious memories with a teeny tiny human and…

    Luke’s 6 Month Update

I seriously cannot believe that Luke is already SIX MONTHS!! It seems like just yesterday that I was pregnant and packing my bag for the hospital. (I recently shared Luke’s birth story which you can check out here if you’re interested). I started this blog when Luke was about four months old, so I don’t have any recaps yet…I’m excited to start sharing updates every few months to share with you all and to have as a record as he gets older. This morning was a bit of a struggle to get the day going, but after a cup of coffee and a hot shower, I’m excited to take on the week. When I was pregnant, I googled everything from “what to pack in my hospital bag” (and started packing weeks in advance) to “what to expect when you bring home a newborn”. Five months later, I realized nothing from that second topic was even close to preparing me for what life is actually like when you have a baby 🙂  However, I picked up a lot of helpful information from different posts about what you should bring in your hospital bag and thought I would share what I ended up bringing with me. I over packed (what else is new) so for any future…

A Letter to My Pre-Baby Self

Dear Pre-Baby Self: Your life is about to change drastically. I know you think you know this, but almost every aspect of your life will be different. You will be tired, but you will survive. Just when you think you can’t function one more minute, you’ll get a burst of energy that pushes you through the day. When you hear those baby cries (screams) in the middle of the night, you will be so groggy you can barely get out of bed, but then you will see your sweet baby and won’t mind snuggling him in the dark while he eats. Grab an extra cup of coffee in the morning…
