5 Minute Makeup Routine
Before I had a baby, I would wake up in the morning to an alarm clock, scroll through Instagram, check my emails, take a shower, and leisurely get ready for the day. I knew life would change with an infant…but I had no idea just how much! Luke has always been an early riser which means he typically is the one who wakes us up in the morning (I seriously don’t even set an alarm anymore). The problem is…it’s so early that there’s no way Blake and I could get up any earlier to get a head start on getting ready for the day. Therefore, once he’s up, it’s a juggling act of trying to hold/entertain/feed him while showering and getting ready for the day. We pass him back and forth and trade off getting him ready while we get dressed. Blake leaves earlier than I do, so once he’s gone it’s just me…which means I have to be dressed and ready to go so I can wrangle Luke, feed him some solids, and get his bag and my bag into the car before leaving for daycare.
Needless to say, our mornings are a little hectic around here these days! And when I was still pumping in the morning and attached to an outlet? Chaos.
Therefore, I’ve gotten my morning routine down to a science – including my makeup routine. If I had beautiful, flawless skin and long, thick eyelashes I probably would skip makeup all together, but alas…I absolutely, 100% need some makeup to look human! SO…here is my 5 minute daily makeup routine and my must-have makeup products (you can also shop these items via the widget at the bottom):
*Before we get started, let me preface this with the fact that I have oily skin that is very sensitive/prone to breakouts. I look for products that are unscented, good for oily skin, and non comedogenic*
Prep Work
First, I wash my face while I’m in the shower – I use either Cerave’s Foaming Cleanser or Cetaphil’s Daily Cleanser (I can’t tell a difference between the two products so use them both depending on what’s available at my local store).
Once I’m out, I use Cerave’s AM facial lotion all over my face and neck. I love this stuff – it has SPF30 in it and doesn’t break me out at all! I also use this Clinique All About the Eyes De-Puffer Serum Roller to quickly de-puff the bags under my eyes (which, let’s be honest…are pretty bad these days). I actually received this product for free when I ordered some other Clinique products and have been impressed with how much it helps! Once that settles in, I pat a little bit of this Clinique Eye Lotion under my eyes.
Face
Next, I put on my foundation – when I’m in need of more coverage (which is most days), I use this Clinique Age Defense BB Cream. It provides a good amount of coverage while staying fairly light and non-cakey. (Also, this post is not sponsored by Clinique…I just realized that almost everything I use happens to be a Clinique product). I know a lot of people use a beauty blender, but I like to wash my hands and use my fingers to blend in liquid foundation. The warmth from your fingers helps to spread it on and you don’t have to worry about product seeping into the sponge (or bacteria growing!). When I want to feel even lighter, or on a super hot day when I don’t want to wear liquid foundation, I reach for my BareMinerals Original Loose Powder Foundation (One of my best friends recommended this recently after I complimented her on her skin – it looked flawless but also completely natural…yes, please!). She also recommended this brush to apply it, which I purchased and love.
I then dab a few dots of Clinique’s Line Smoothing Concealer under my eyes and anywhere else I have some redness.
Finally, I swipe on some blush – lately I’ve been alternating between two Clinique options (surprise, surprise): This one in Cupid for a natural look and the one pictured above (it’s been discontinued, but it’s in the color ) when I want to look a little more sunkissed.
Eyes
For my eyes, I use this Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics palette. I really only ever use two of the colors, so I was excited to see they had a smaller version of their original palettes (I use Stark all over and then Frisk a little bit of on the crease and outside corner). Next, I use this Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Eye Lining Pen. It glides on so smoothly and has a fine point so you can easily draw a very fine line. Finally, I put on two coats of mascara (I switch it up between L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly and Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama. I’ve tried some higher end mascaras in the past but feel like I don’t notice enough of a difference to justify the price!
Finishing Touch
I don’t do this every day, but sometimes when I want a little extra staying power, I spray on a setting spray. My favorites are by Urban Decay – their All Nighter and DeSlick sprays are AMAZING. I ran out recently and when I was in the checkout line at Ulta I noticed their version of a setting spray, so I grabbed it quickly before checking out. Honestly…I’m not overly impressed and would stick with Urban Decay if you are looking to try one out!
And that’s it! It seems like a lot of products when I type it out, but I promise it generally takes right around five minutes from start to finish.
What are some of your favorite products??
xoxo,
Lauren

Love that I made the post! I just bought the clinique under eye stuff! I’m always in the market for something for de-puffing, so thank you for the suggestion!
