Weekend Update – 7/30
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready for a great week. Luke is teething so had a middle of the night wake up and then was up for the day at 4:00am this morning. Even after some tylenol and a bottle he seemed uncomfortable and was crying off and on for most of the morning – it breaks my heart! I’m hoping the teeth come through quickly and he is pain free soon.
Luke started pulling up with our help last week, but we got a video from Daycare of him pulling himself up completely by him on Friday…which means I’m a mix between proud mama and panicked mama. He is SO determined and constantly “go go go”, and I swear he already knows to go after things that are dangerous. He loves crawling to the fireplace to open and close the gate and he recently discovered outlets, so he beelines it towards those when he gets close to a wall. We knew we needed to start babyproofing, but when we walked in to get him after his Saturday morning nap, he had pulled himself up in the crib and we knew we couldn’t put it off any longer! We immediately lowered the mattress all the way down and then headed straight to Home Depot to get outlet covers, toilet seat locks, cabinet and drawer latches, etc.
The rest of Saturday was spent in a barre class, babyproofing the house, and going on a family walk. We put Luke in the stroller without the carseat for the first time and he was fascinated by the stroller fan we had clipped on. He spent the whole walk putting his hand in the fan to stop it…thank God it just has foam blades!
Saturday night my parents came over to watch Luke so Blake and I could go on a date night. They came over on their way home from Church and Blake and I headed downtown to Morton’s Steakhouse. I had a giftcard (that I was probably given…8+ years ago) so we figured we should use it! It was actually really good, but overall I’m just not a huge steakhouse fan. I think they’re a little overpriced and would prefer a good burger instead 🙂 BUT, we had a blast and it was so nice to get dressed up and get out for a few hours to spend some time together.
Luke woke up early on Sunday (please tell me this isn’t just his new “normal” wake up time…) so were a little tired and started the day off slowly. We made coffee, ate breakfast, and stayed in our PJs for a few hours before going on a walk and getting the day started. We knocked out a lot around the house and ran to the grocery store to get some meal prep in for the week.
Loft is having a huge sale right now – an extra 60% off sale styles (and some full priced dresses are 50% off). I basically live in dresses all summer and fall, so have my eye on a couple of dresses that would be perfect for work or play:
