Weekend Update – April 23rd
Happy Monday! This was such a good weekend that was the perfect blend of rest and activities. It was a crazy week last week, so this weekend was just what I needed to regroup!
Friday
Friday night was pretty uneventful – after a long week, we just stayed home to snuggle with Luke before bedtime and then poured a (large) glass of wine while we caught up on our days. Luckily we had leftovers in the fridge, so dinner came together pretty quickly without much cleanup…aka the best kind of dinner! Blake and I watched a little TV and then headed up to bed. Our Friday nights look A LOT different than when we first met 9 years ago!
Saturday
Luke was up early again, so Blake and I both got up and got our day started shortly after 6:00am. I hopped in the shower and got ready to meet my mom to do a photo shoot for the blog (she’s an amazing photographer and I’m so lucky she agrees to help me with the blog!). I drove over to my parents house to pick her up and we headed off to do the shoot. She sent me some of the pictures already and I’m so excited to share the pictures in some upcoming posts!
A candid behind the scenes my mom sent over with the rest of the pictures
After we wrapped up, I drove back home and we spent some time playing with Luke before getting ready to head over to our friends’ house. Blake and his friends do a Fantasy Baseball league every year and they had planned to do a Homerun Derby before the draft event this year, but unfortunately it rained that entire day. They postponed the Homerun Derby and decided to have a group event so the wives and kids got to tag along this year 🙂 It was such a blast catching up with all of our friends and having Luke meet some of them for the first time. Luke basically boycotted all naps as soon as we got there and seemed in awe of all of the people around.
He obviously cared much more about his book than the Homerun Derby
He fell asleep as soon as we pulled out of their driveway later that afternoon and ended taking up a solid nap even after we got home and out of the car. We spent the rest of the evening catching up on things around the house before putting Luke down to bed. His bedtime routine is one of my favorite parts of the day…I love when he laughs during his bath and then gets all snuggly while I read him a book and Blake gives his bedtime bottle.
Is there anything cuter than a baby in a towel??
Sunday
My Sunday morning was a slow and sleepy one. Luke woke up a few times throughout the night and got up for good around 6:30, so I woke up and grabbed a cup of coffee while I fed him his bottle. Blake got up and headed off to workout, where he unfortunately tweaked his back and was in quite a bit of pain for the rest of the day. We were able to make a quick trip to Home Depot to make a return and pick up some herbs and vegetables to plant in our raised vegetable bed Blake built a few years ago before his back really seemed to tighten up. We didn’t actually get around to planting anything today, but hey, at least we picked up what we needed! We made the mistake last time of planting WAY too many tomato plants…they ended up taking over almost all of the other plants and were gigantic and out of control. We also had a few jalapeno plants and ended up with more jalapenos than any one family could ever need!
Vegetables + Herbs for our garden
I snuck out for a quick barre class and then came back home where I spent most of the rest of the day playing with Luke and prepping for the week ahead. I was craving pizza (I don’t eat dairy and therefore we don’t eat a lot of pizza so every now and then I crave it like crazy!) and ended up ordering some from Dominos. I love that you can add or takeaway cheese like a topping so am able to get my half dairy free. I’m only slightly ashamed at how fast we killed that thing 🙂
Sausage + pineapple for me, pepperoni for Blake
And just to round out our night of unhealthy eating, I couldn’t resist adding the cinnamon sugar bread twists when they popped up as a $1.00 add on…between my sweet tooth and my tendency to impulse buy, those bad boys didn’t stand a chance!
I spent the rest of the evening cleaning and getting things ready for the week before sitting down to type up this post. I’m heading off to bed and am hoping for a solid chunk of sleep. I hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready to take on this week!
xoxo,
Lauren
