Simple Spring Tablescape
Spring is such a beautiful and symbolic season. After the dreary, cold days that seem to linger on and on throughout the winter, I look forward to the warmer weather and blooming foliage with excitement. We used to have a HUGE Bradford Pear tree in our front yard, and as soon as I saw the buds popping up I knew spring was on its way. Unfortunately, last fall a huge storm caused our Bradford Pear to split right down the middle (apparently this is common with these trees – they grow straight up and get too top heavy to support themselves, causing them to split and ultimately die…who knew?!). I love these trees, but absolutely cannot stand the smell haha!
As soon as I can feel spring around the corner, I whip out all of my spring décor and make little changes throughout my house. A spring wreath is hung on the front door, lighter pillows are thrown on the couch, and fresh flowers are placed all around the house. I also swap out my table décor for something simple and light so that I’m ready for last minute brunches or dinners.
My favorite way to decorate our kitchen table for spring is with fresh flowers and pastel accents. This spring, I used our everyday place settings (Blake’s only requirement when we were registering was that EVERYTHING couldn’t be white…but I convinced him that basic white for every day was the way to go so we could pair it with colored dishes and glasses for different holidays :)) and paired them with a darker woven charger for some contrast. To make the table pop, I used my favorite turquoise accent bowls that I picked up from HomeGoods a few years ago.
How pretty are these pale blush napkins with the tiny pom poms from Hobby Lobby? It was love at first sight and I grabbed them as soon as I saw them. Since the rest of the table was so simple, I borrowed my parents’ formal silverware to give the table a little something extra. Their set is just so beautiful and the tiny flower details along the handles are incredibly intricate.
Other than that, I just combined a few small bouquets of hot pink tulips from Trader Joe’s and placed them in the middle of the table. I love creating tablescapes with lots of accents, but this simple layout seemed fitting for this time of year!
