Weekend Recap – Easter Weekend
Hi friends! I hope everyone had a great Easter/Passover weekend. We had beautiful weather here in Georgia and it makes me hopeful that these warmer spring temps are here to stay!!
Friday
We kicked off the weekend with a date night to a new-to-us restaurant, La Casa Italian Grille. It came recommended to me by a coworker and we’ve been looking for a local Italian joint so it was an easy decision for us when we were deciding where to go. We haven’t had as many date nights as we used to since Luke was born, so it was nice to carve out that one on one time to connect as husband and wife and not just as parents. We’re so lucky to have family nearby – Luke got to spend some quality time with my parents while we lingered over our dishes with a glass of red wine and good conversation.
Saturday
Saturday started bright and early for us – Luke woke up around 6 so he and I snuck downstairs for coffee and a bottle. He just started playing in his jumper/command center and he LOVES it. It’s so fun to watch him explore new toys – he’s at the stage where everything you give him goes straight into his mouth!
Then at 8:30 I headed off to my favorite workout class at Elevate Fitness Studios. They offer both barre and TRX classes which are fun to mix and match. I was in the mood for barre today and the class did not disappoint!
After grabbing a quick shower, we got ready to head out for the day. We ended up making a quick stop by the pediatrician (they have drop-in hours on Saturday which is amazing) and then headed to Avalon which is a large outdoor multi-use development that has shops, restaurants, town homes, a movie theater, and a large green space they hold events in (like outdoor movies in the summer and an ice skating rink in the winter). The Easter Bunny was there this weekend, so we headed there first to get in line and get Luke’s picture with him. I love starting new traditions with him and can’t wait until he’s older and understands what’s going on during holidays!
After the Easter Bunny, we walked around and grabbed lunch and a beer from Barley Garden, which has a to-go window you can order from. The three of us hung out outside and it was such a beautiful day – not a cloud in the sky and sunny with a slight breeze. On our way back to the car we stopped at Jeni’s ice cream. I don’t eat dairy so I usually get one of their sorbets, but today they had a dairy free dark chocolate truffle option…and oh.my.gosh. it was incredible!
We spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning and doing things around the house and Blake made a meal to celebrate Passover. We have a mixed faith marriage, which leads to interesting discussions and celebrations of both faiths. I’ve always loved learning about different religions, and we make an effort to incorporate both faiths into our family. So on Saturday we celebrated Passover and on Sunday we will go to mass for Easter!
Sunday
Sunday was such an incredible day celebrating Luke’s first Easter! We woke up and had a slow morning before heading off to church. Luke slept the entire service which made it a little easier to focus and appreciate the mass. After church, we headed over to my parents’ house for lunch and to spend some time with them. We had so much fun and stayed there for a few hours before heading back to our house to get ready for the upcoming week.
I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend! Luke has his four month appointment tomorrow and I can’t wait to see how much he weighs and what the next milestones are for us to look forward to. Before I go…how cute is Luke in his Easter outfit with his little bowtie??
