Weekend Update – 8/6

Seeing as it’s now Thursday morning, this Weekend Update is obviously a little late 🙂 Our weekend extended into Monday night, and by the time I got home and got my week started, I ran out of time to get in a timely update. I thought about skipping it this week, but we had SUCH a fun weekend that I wanted to capture it in a post and share some pictures. And now…there’s only two more days until the weekend starts again!

The first part of the weekend kicked off with a bang! I met up with three of my best girlfriends for dinner and a concert. These girls are so special to me and I love when the four of us get together. We ended up at Dreamland BBQ in downtown Duluth before the concert and it was SO GOOD. I could eat BBQ everyday I’m pretty sure. We went to see Sugarland and it was my first time seeing them in concert (the other girls have seen them several times) and while they aren’t typically my favorite band, the concert was so fun and we had a blast!

Saturday was spent catching up around the house and getting ready for our trip to Delaware. We spent the majority of Saturday deep cleaning the house and while it was exhausting, it feels SO GOOD to have a clean house and all of those lingering to do’s checked off! This was the first time Blake and I have both left Luke overnight and my anxiety was a little high as we cleaned and prepped everything before we left. My parents came over and stayed at our house with him so I knew he was in good hands, but it’s still hard to leave him!

We woke up early on Saturday and quickly got ready/set up a few last minute items for Luke and my parents. They came over and met us around 6:00am and Luke woke up right as they got there. We spent some time together before giving him (lots of) kisses and said our goodbyes. He seemed a little confused and panicked at first but quickly adjusted and was playing and laughing with my parents basically as soon as we left.

Blake and I lucked out and had the easiest travel day ever. We zipped down to the airport, quickly got through security, took off right on time, had zero turbulence in the air, landed early, hopped in an Uber as soon as we walked outside, and got to the hotel with no traffic! We checked in, dropped our bags off, and met up with Blake’s Dad to grab a bite to eat before getting ready for the wedding. The hotel we stayed in was SO unbelievably gorgeous. Hotel Du Pont (in Wilmington, DE) was built in 1913 and has a stunning lobby, intricate ceilings throughout, spacious and luxurious rooms, a golden ballroom, theatre, and more. My jaw was dropping at every turn and Blake and I agreed it was one of the nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed in.

After lunch, we got ready and headed down to the lobby to meet up with the family before walking in for the ceremony. It was so nice to catch up with Blake’s extended family and the ceremony itself was beautiful. We moved downstairs for a cocktail hour before heading into the ballroom for dinner and dancing.

We had such a blast at our table for dinner and dancing the night away. Even though we had the “night off”…we still were exhausted by 10:00pm and ready for bed #parentlife. It was, however, amazing to be able to sleep in until around 7:30! We woke up, got ready and packed up our stuff before venturing out of the hotel to stroll around downtown Wilmington and grab a quick breakfast sandwich and coffee. It would have been fun to stay a little longer and head into downtown Philadelphia (Blake and I went a few years ago and saw most of the sites, but by the time we got to the Liberty Bell it had closed, so it’s still on my bucket list!), but it was nice to get home in the early afternoon so we could beat rush hour and scoop up our sweet baby boy!

And that was it! We were worn out by the time we got home so took it easy Monday night after putting Luke to bed. I started a new role at work on Tuesday, so it was nice to get home and head to bed early before hitting the ground running Tuesday morning!

Hope everyone is having a good week so far.

xoxo,

Lauren
