Weekend Update – July 16th
Happy Monday! Things have been a little quiet over here on the blog. Between work and a sick baby, I’ve had very little free time to hop on here and write. I love having this creative outlet though, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to carve out some more time soon! I do plan on posting an update on my Whole30 (I finished up this past week!) as well as (hopefully) a post on Amazon Prime Day and what I have my eye on, so stayed tuned for those!
Before I dive into the weekend recap, I wanted to talk about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It’s open to cardholders only right now (opens to the public on July 20th) and I have my eye on a few items! I have purchased Zella leggings during the sale in the past and if you haven’t tried them before…they are MUST HAVES in my mind. I love the way they fit and the quality and price can’t be beat. I also have wanted a Barefoot Dreams cardigan for years and think that I might pull the trigger (or ask for it for Christmas!). Anything that catches your eye?
I had an offsite meeting all day on Friday, so Blake picked up Luke and I met them both at home for dinner. Luke finally started to feel better about halfway through the week, thank goodness, so he was happy and smiley again. It broke my heart to see him so sick! Blake got hit with whatever Luke had, and I’m just thanking my lucky stars that I only came down with some slight congestion. I’m keeping my fingers crossed we all stay healthy throughout the rest of the summer!
We started Luke on a new schedule starting Saturday (we were a little behind switching him to the next Moms on Call schedule because he was doing so great on the previous one, but he was starting to not be hungry for each bottle so we figured we should go ahead and make the switch). The new schedule has longer “awake” periods, so we took advantage and got out and about! We headed to The Forum where we bought some new books for Luke (this one and this one), grabbed lunch at Jasons Deli, and then strolled through Pottery Barn before heading home for a nap.
Luke did so well and laughed and played the entire time we were eating. We fed him at the end and he basically refused to eat the asparagus puree we had. He has loved all vegetables so far (peas and green beans are literally his favorite of all the foods he has tried), so it was funny to see him turn his nose up this time!
Later that night, my parents came over and babysat Luke so Blake and I could get out for a date night. We promised each other when I got pregnant that we would make date nights a priority but sometimes it’s hard to carve out that time! We had been looking forward to this night all week and it was SO FUN!
We went to downtown Alpharetta with the intent on going to one of our favorite restaurants (South Main Kitchen), but the wait was pretty long and we were starving so we changed our plans to try a new restaurant – Restaurant Holmes. My brother had mentioned it earlier and we passed it on our walk to the original restaurant, so we doubled back and were seated right away. It was actually their opening weekend and it turns out the owner/head chef went to high school with my sister-in-law and lived in her neighborhood growing up! They serve American small plates (so basically tapas style) and everything we had was really good. We started our meal with a glass of sparkling rose (me) and a pinot noir (Blake) and then ordered several small plates.
After dinner, we wanted to go somewhere different for dessert. Blake loves Cafe Intermezzo and there’s one at Avalon, so we headed that way. It took us forever to find a parking spot, and then by the time we got to Cafe Intermezzo, they also had a long wait. We decided to go to Caffe Antico and got a slice of chocolate cake and some espresso. The cake was t0.die.for and it was so fun to sit and chat without having to rush home.
Sunday was a lazy day which was perfect to cap off the weekend. Blake and I even took a nap during Luke’s first nap and it was nice to just have a slow Sunday rather than rushing through chores and errands. Luke woke up pretty early (like…5:00am) so I was starving around 7 and took him to our favorite local bagel place, Brooklyn Bagel, to pick up breakfast.
There are some MAJOR sales happening right now. Besides the Nordstrom sale (which I shared above), I also picked up a few things that were on sale and then an additional 50% off at Loft (the striped dress, the black dress with ruffle sleeves, and a leaf romper which is no longer on the website but ended up being like $15!). I have my eye on the black tassel dress and think that green dress would be perfect for work!
Additionally, JCrew currently has 30% off all items, American Eagle has 50% off all clearance items, and Macy’s has an additional 25% off all items PLUS free shipping with code SHOPIT!
Hope you all had a great weekend!
xoxo,
Lauren
