Weekend Update – Labor Day Weekend

Hi, friends! I hope everyone had a great long weekend. It was so nice to have an extra day to spend at home with family – but it went by so quickly! We’re doing a few things around the house tonight and getting ready for a short week this week. This recap is brought to you by Instagram stories because apparently I didn’t take any other pictures most of the weekend 🙂

Blake had a fantasy football draft event with his friends Friday night, so I stayed home with Luke and had a night to myself after he went to bed. I made some cheese-less pizza (I swear it’s better than it sounds!), poured myself a glass of wine, and curled up on the couch to watch bad TV (anybody else watching Bachelor in Paradise??) and read a magazine. It was so nice to have a little time to decompress and I was in bed and asleep by 10:00pm…aka a great night in my mind haha!

I kicked off Saturday with a barre class and then came home and spent the morning getting some things done around the house before we turned on the GT and South Carolina games. I love college football season and can’t wait to take Luke to some Tech games soon! We ran some errands Saturday afternoon to get out of the house for a bit and to pick up some groceries for Sunday.

Sunday morning started off with some prep for an early Labor Day dinner with my parents! I prepped the shortcakes for some strawberry shortcake and Blake got the Big Green Egg going for the ribs. After we knocked out a few items, I went to Church and then swung by the grocery store on the way home for a few forgotten items. My parents came over to hang out for a little before dinner and to spend some time with Luke. We had so much fun with them and they stayed for a few hours before heading home.

I got up early Monday morning to prep for a blog photo shoot with my Mom. I haven’t done one in awhile and still feel a little silly doing them but I love shooting with my Mom. She is so talented and I love watching her shoot – we always have a blast together! Afterwards, I came home and cleaned a bit before trying to get Luke to take his afternoon nap. He slept for about 30 minutes and was just NOT having it, so we scrapped naptime and hopped in the car to go to the pool instead. I can’t believe summer is over and that this might have been our last pool day of the year! Luke did pretty well at the pool but started teetering on the verge of a major meltdown after some time in the sun, so we headed back home where he took another 30 minute snooze. We spent the rest of the afternoon playing and prepping for the week before picking up Chipotle for dinner and ending the night on the couch watching The Office (we’re on Season 8 and while I loved the first few episodes, I’m kind of over it now but feel like we have to finish the series!).

And that brings us to the beginning of the work week! We still have a few things to do around the house (plumbing issues are at the top of the list which kicked off a few weeks ago when I happened to hear water flowing upstairs and found our guest bathroom toilet gushing water – yikes!) and yard, so we’ll be busy throughout the week!

xoxo,

Lauren
