Weekend Recap – 8/20

Happy Monday, Friends! It’s a gray day here in Georgia, but we had really nice weather all weekend, so I can’t complain too much. I’m kicking this week off with a Fantasy Football draft even with some of my girlfriends and I can’t wait to catch up with them! My husband and his group of friends have had a fantasy football league since college and all the girls used to complain when they would talk about it/spend all day Sunday watching the games. So one of the guys set up a league for us (called A Fantasy League of Their Own haha) and now we’re just as obsessed. Well…probably not, but we seriously love it and have done it I think for five years now!

The weekend started off like pretty much every weekend around here – family time at home

We woke up Saturday and took it slow all morning. I’ve been having some back pain and I’m not sure if it’s muscle or nerve related, but either way I skipped my barre class and spent the morning in my PJs on the couch with Luke and Blake. Once Luke went down for his morning nap, we got ready for the day so we could hop in the car once Luke woke up. My nephew’s birthday was earlier last week, and one of the things he wanted was to go to Build-A-Bear and create his own stuffed animal. My parents gave it to his as his gift, so we met up with my Mom, brother, and nephews at the mall and it was so much fun to see him get so excited about his choice. We also learned that if you bring your little one to the store during their birthday month, they can purchase a Birthday Bear for the amount of years they are turning (so if we go in December, we can get it for $1!). So…we’ll be back in December since that’s obviously the cheapest we’ll ever get it for haha!

Afterwards, we said goodbye to our family and walked around the mall with Luke. We grabbed lunch and Luke was fascinated by the amount of children and babies that walked passed him. He is so curious and makes the most serious face when he sees another child – it’s hilarious! After the mall, we drove to Nothing Bundt Cake to pick up some goodies for my Mom’s birthday. Luke fell asleep as soon as we left the mall, so we drove around for awhile afterwards before heading home. We spent the rest of the afternoon playing (more like following Luke around everywhere as he pulls himself up and scoots around hoping he won’t completely let go and fall backwards) and had a mini birthday celebration with my Mom.

Sunday morning we woke up and got ready for the day before hopping in the car and driving a little over two hours to Augusta, GA. Blake’s Aunt and Uncle drove down South from Canada late last week and stayed with his Dad and sister in Columbia, SC. Augusta is somewhat halfway, so we were excited to be able to see everybody and grab some lunch. Luckily we timed the drive and lunch with Luke’s naptimes and overall it worked really well! He fell asleep for about an hour on the way down and was full of energy and in a great mood during lunch. We stayed to eat and chat for about 2 hours and Luke was definitely ready for a nap on the way home. He slept about an hour and a half on the way back which was so helpful!

The trip took up most of the day (we were gone from 9am until 4pm), so by the time we got home we did a few things around the house, ran to the grocery store (without fail, Luke makes it about 3/4 of the way through the trip before he decides he’s had ENOUGH of the cart and just wants you to carry him haha), and then came home for Luke’s bath and bedtime. He was exhausted last night and immediately turned to curl up on my chest after he finished his bottle. Those nights are something I’ll just never get enough of. He also started reaching his little hand through the crib slats to hold your hand once you put him in the crib, and it just melts my heart!!

The rest of the night will be spent folding laundry, replacing our garbage disposal, packing up Luke’s bag for daycare and sweeping the downstairs…fun stuff, I tell ya! Hope everyone had a great weekend and has a wonderful week!

xoxo,

Lauren
