Weekend Recap – Father’s Day Weekend

Oh Monday, we meet again! We had such a great weekend and Sunday night came faster than I would have liked. We have a pretty quiet week this week, which will be a good way to ease back into our routine.

Friday

Last week was jam-packed at work, so I was over the moon excited when I woke up Friday morning and realized Luke was STILL SLEEPING! You guys – while the past few weeks have been so much better (aka a far cry from waking up every 15 minutes…), Luke still would wake up either once throughout the night and talk to himself/whine a little, or be ready to wake up for the day around 5:30am. Sometimes he’d fall back asleep for a little bit, but typically Blake and I couldn’t, so we never were able to get a full night of sleep in. But Thursday night/Friday morning, he slept 12 hours and Blake actually had to go in and wake him up so we could get him ready to go for the day! He was in the smiliest, cuddliest mood too, which started all of our Fridays off on the best foot 🙂

I left work a little early and went to pick up Luke from daycare before heading home and meeting up with Blake’s sister, Ali! She was able to come down Friday morning to spend Friday night and Saturday with us. We spent time playing with Luke and Ali finished up his bedtime routine with his bedtime bottle. We ended up having a late dinner and watched a few episodes of The Office before heading to bed.

Saturday

I woke up Saturday and got ready for a barre class. It was the hardest class I’d been to in awhile, and I’m still sore from it! I’m getting so close to hitting 100 classes and I’m hoping to get in a few this week! After class, I headed to CVS to pick up some pictures I had printed for Blake’s Father’s Day gift. I assembled it in the parking lot and hid it in my car until Sunday morning ha!

I got home and took a quick shower and got ready for my good friend Danielle’s baby shower! She and her husband are having a little girl at the end of August and I’m so excited for them.

The shower was so fun and I chatted with my friends (the same group of  girls that I went to Asheville, NC with last weekend!) before we played a game and Danielle opened her gifts. We played a Price is Right themed game where we had to guess the price of several baby items that the host of the shower had purchased earlier that week. We had to total the costs and the winner was the guest who came closest to the total cost without going over. I guess spending tons of money on baby products has paid of for me because I guessed $32.23 and the grand total was $32.24!!

After the shower, I came back home and we hung out for a little bit before running out to grab a late lunch and running an errand. We stopped by Buy Buy Baby to pick up some pool supplies for Luke! We grabbed swim diapers, a float with a canopy, and a sun hat that we put to good use on Sunday.

Ali ended up leaving a little after 5:00pm so she could get back to South Carolina and spend Father’s Day with their Dad, so said our goodbyes and then played with Luke before we put him to bed and spent the rest of the night doing yard work (Blake) and running to the grocery store (me).

Sunday

Luke woke up at 6:30 (yay!) so I got up with him and made a cup of coffee while he had his bottle. We went back upstairs to get him dressed for the day and noticed Blake was awake, so we went in and played on our bed for awhile before we went downstairs and let Blake open his gifts.

Blake requested a brunch out, so we went to our favorite local breakfast/brunch spot, Reveille Cafe. We timed it so Luke’s nap fell right when we headed out the door, and sure enough – he fell asleep on the way to brunch and stayed asleep in his carseat through most of breakfast!

After his second nap of the day, we gathered up our pool supplies and drove to my parents house to give my Dad his Father’s Day card and gift, and then we went to their neighborhood pool. I wasn’t sure what Luke would think of the water, but he seemed to really enjoy it! It was FREEZING when we first got in, but he didn’t flinch. He was totally content with chilling in the float while playing with some of his toys. He’s a little too small to sit in there by himself, so after holding him up for awhile, we took him out and swam around with him which he loved. He was splashing around and kicking his little legs like crazy by the end. I can’t wait to keep taking this summer and to have him take swim lessons when he gets a little older!

Luke was worn out from his afternoon at the pool, so we got him to bed a little early and then spent some time together for prepping for the week.

It was a great weekend and I wish we had an extra day to spend as a family! Why aren’t all weekends three day weekends?? Hope you have a great week!
