Luke’s Neutral & Navy Nursery Reveal

As soon as we found out we were having a boy, I immediately started planning the nursery in my head. I looked on Pinterest, read other blog posts about nursery reveals, and thought about what I wanted the room to feel like when we brought our sweet little babe home. I decided I didn’t necessarily want a “theme”, but wanted mostly neutrals with navy accents. This room used to be an office/guest room and one of the walls was already painted a deep blue. I had purchased two indigo hued prints previously and knew they would be perfect in the room. Once I decided to use those, everything else just began to come together!

I work for a custom framing company, so naturally wanted to get the prints framed in order to make a big impact. The majority of the room (walls, crib, dresser) are white, so I wanted a darker frame around the print to make them pop.

This dresser was actually mine growing up and I love that Luke will have a piece of my furniture in his room. It was originally white, and then my Dad painted it black when I went off to college. Blake used chalk paint to return it to white in order to brighten up the room. The dresser currently holds diapers, all of his clothes that currently fit, wash cloths, and extra sheets. It also doubles as his changing table!

This little cozy corner is my favorite spot in the house. I had some intense heartburn and reflux while I was pregnant, so we searched for a rocker/glider that doubled as a recliner in case I needed to sleep sitting upright. We rarely use the recliner feature now, but we end Luke’s bedtime routine in this glider every night. I sit on the pouf and read a book while Blake rocks Luke and gives him his bottle. We also settle in for middle of the night feedings and there’s something about rocking him in the dark while his little hand rests on our arm and his eyelashes flutter close that makes my heart so full and happy.

This basket is actually a planter that I picked up from Target and it’s perfect for corralling all of his blankets.

These shelves are from Cost Plus World Market. We loved the natural wood feel and the shape of the brackets. The brackets were originally silver so we spray painted them in order to match the curtain rod and tie backs.

These little booties were a gift from one of my best friends. It was the first gift we received for Luke, and I love having them out on display as a reminder of how much he was loved from the very beginning!

This crib medal was a gift from my parents for Luke’s baptism. My mom brought it to the church and had the Priest bless it as an additional surprise (cue all the tears).

The crib was one of the first items we purchased for the nursery. We ended up scoring a major deal on it due to a coupon code and flash sale so snagged it as quickly as possible from Pottery Barn Kids! We have loved it so far. This sheet set is my absolute favorite…I have a slight obsession with elephants so these were an easy pick for my registry. We searched for a long time for something to put over the crib. We didn’t want anything too heavy and when I saw this print of the Bob Dylan song “Forever Young”, it was instant addition to the online shopping cart. Blake and I both love it and we sing it to him while rocking him all the time. Blake used special hangers and added velcro strips all around the frame as a safety measure – that thing won’t budge!

Finally, we added this bookshelf from Target into the closet to store toys and books. One of the showers I had was “storey book” themed and we received so many amazing books to add to his collection. All of the books on the right are from Blake’s childhood, and we have so much fun reading to him every night.

And that’s it! It’s a pretty simple room overall, but it’s filled with little touches that are so special to us. We love spending time as a family in the nursery and I’m excited to use it even more as Luke grows older!

xoxo,

Lauren
