I have a love/hate relationship with Podcasts. I WANT to love them, because generally they are entertaining and I love learning new things across a wide array of information. However, I have trouble focusing unless the podcast really pulls me in or unless I’m doing something where I’m 100% focused on listening (like going for a walk). If I’m driving, cleaning, cooking, etc…it better be really interesting or else I’ll realize 10 minutes later that I haven’t actually heard a word they said and I’m constantly rewinding. The six podcasts below have become my go-tos when I’m working out or driving to work and are a good mix of educational and “fluffy” (I’m embarrassed to admit how into the Bachelor franchise I really am…):

Young House Love has a Podcast – I started following Young House Love years ago when they were actively blogging about different renovations they’ve done in each of their houses over the years. They are hilarious and have awesome step-by-step DIY projects that make you feel like you can actually take on major projects in your home. They took a break from blogging for a bit to focus on writing books, creating a line with Target and to start a Podcast. While they are still posting some, their main focus is on the Podcast and it’s definitely one I look forward to listening to. They have such a fun rapport and talk about what went wrong in major projects, what they regret from past renos, their favorite trends in home décor, and other funny happenings in their life.

NPR’s How I Built This – I think I have to dub this as my current favorite Podcast. Guy Raz interviews the founders of some of the most popular and successful companies (from Kate Spade to Cliff Bar to Dyson) and it’s so interesting to hear how they got started. Sometimes they found instant success, and other times they struggled for years until they had a big breakthrough. I always feel inspired after listening to an episode and spend the rest of the day dreaming and scheming of potential products to create!

• The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast – Lauryn and her husband, Michael, hit upon the most interesting and controversial topics. Similarly to her blog, Lauryn will talk about anything and everything and aims to give real advice to users without holding back. They banter back and forth while talking about starting a business, health, beauty, setting goals, and everything in between. Lauryn is so extra that she made her entire family reshoot their wedding photos because the original ones weren’t exactly what she had in mind – she obviously will stop at nothing to get exactly what she wants and this podcast will make you feel like you can take on the world and smash your goals all while ensuring you’re looking flawless.

• Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristow – Ok, I admit it – I totally love The Bachelor and all of the shows within the franchise (The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, Winter Games, etc). I used to get together weekly with my girlfriends to watch it and even though I don’t watch it consistently anymore, it’s always recording and I usually catch up whenever I can (or whenever Blake is gone and I can take over the TV for two hours of cattiness and drama). Kaitlyn is one of my all-time favorite Bachelorettes and I love that she’s so real and open both on Instagram and in the Podcast. She typically interviews other participants from the show and it’s so interesting to get different perspectives of what really happens behind the scenes.

• Goal Digger – Jenna Kutcher’s Instagram page is probably one of the most inspirational (and beautiful) feeds you will find. She and her husband have a work hard, play hard mentality which is showcased by the fact that they work their butts off year round so they can escape to their condo in Hawaii for a full month every year in order to rest and spend quality time together. Jenna is beautiful and a total #girlboss who celebrates women of all sizes, backgrounds, and personalities. Her podcast is self-described as a “live workshop style business podcast” and it is so helpful for anyone trying to start a business…or to just live their best life 🙂

• Tell Me Something I Don’t Know! – I was initially drawn to this podcast because the host is one of the co-authors of Freakonomics which is hands down one of my top 3 favorite books. This podcast is set up kind of like a game show where they have different people up on stage who typically are experts in a certain field. They each try to tell the audience “something they don’t know” and there’s a fact checker there to make sure their tidbit is legit. I’ll admit that sometimes it can be a little slow (or the topic is something I’m not interested in), but overall I learn something new each episode and sometimes just listening to the presenter get super excited over a random piece of information is entertaining in and of itself!
